Walt Disney World has three separate “buckets” of Park Pass: Annual Passholder, Resort Guest and Ticketed Guest. Not surprisingly, it’s the Passholder group that has limited availability. In fact, as of July 31, the only 2020 restrictions to the other two groups is that Labor Day weekend has distributed all Hollywood Studios Park Passes for resort guests. But for Annual Passholders there are 9 days in August that are entirely “sold out” and only Epcot is available until August 23. The first day a Passholder can get a Hollywood Studios Park Pass is September 2.
When Disney announced the Park Pass System, we speculated that there may be fluidity in availability similar to FastPass and dining reservations. We decided to do a test run looking for availability for a party of 3 for each park on days when there was no availability for ANY park (9 park days) :
We started our automated booking at 2:30pm on July 31. (Note that in our testing, we actually did book, and then cancel Park Passes for a party of 3). Our priority for search was the earliest date of the month, and once we booked a park for a day we removed it from our search.
Within two hours, we had booked 10 different Park Passes including at least two for each park. Before 8pm, we had booked all 4 theme parks for each of the first 3 days of the month. We continued running through 9pm the following day resulting in 29 of the 36 “sold out” dates booked! The only park dates we did not get were:
- Magic Kingdom and Epcot on August 7
- Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom on August 8
- Magic Kingdom on August 9
- Epcot and Hollywood Studios on August 11
