With the need to reduce park capacity and limit the number of ticketed guests each day, Disney debuted its new “Park Pass System” this week. Simply stated, each guest (age 3 and older) needs not only a valid ticket, but also a “Park Pass” to enter that park on that day.
Disney has created three separate categories for Park Passes, and each category has its own allocation of Park Passes for each park each day. The categories are: Resort Guests, Annual Passholders, and Theme Park Ticket Guests. Resort Guests can book passes for each day of their resort reservation. Annual Passholders can each hold three park reservations at any given time. Note that if you are an Annual Passholder with a resort reservation, the resort guest rules apply.
If you visit the Park Pass Availability Page, you will be able to see which parks are available within each category each day. In the example below, you will see that every park is available in August for resort guests, but some parks are already filled for Annual Passholders:
At Mousekepros we have automated the booking of Park Passes. Today when the system opened to Passholders at 7am, we had booked all three of our clients days within 30 seconds. By this evening there is no availability for Magic Kingdom on 8/22 or Hollywood Studios on 8/23.
We do believe that there will be some fluidity in Park Pass availabity, perhaps similar in nature to Dining Reservations.
- Guests cancelling their visits
- Guests switching from one park to another
- Disney changing the allocations to one or more of the categories
- Disney increasing the park capacity
