There is no mistaking our love for Walt Disney World. About five years ago, a friend told us about the Parkeology Challenge. To briefly describe this endeavor, it is an attempt to ride every ride across all four Walt Disney World theme parks in a single day. My son and I tried in 2015 during spring break coming just one ride shy as Splash Mountain broke down on us twice. Last year, we tried again and were stymied by the crowds at Animal Kingdom and we only managed to ride thirty-eight rides.
As part of that attempt, we joined up with many other challengers in fundraising for Give Kids The World Village. Participants in the Parkeology challenge raised $60,000 in 2018 and are attempting to get to $100,000 in 2019. We want to do our part to raise money for this great cause.
On August 6, the SummersAtDisney team will attempt the challenge for the third time. This will be on a shorter operating day (14 hours) and we are also going to attempt a “grail run” with only three park hops (completing each park before moving to the next).
